How Hurricane Rock is made
The production of Hurricane Rock is a careful balance between artistic vision and technical mastery, echoing the spirit of craftsmanship.
At the heart of the design lies the influence of a striking natural formation of rocks in Bohemia known for its dramatic hexagonal basalt columns. Often called “the pipe organs,” this geological landmark lends its rhythmic structure and raw, vertical texture to the Hurricane Rock’s visual identity.
The manufacturing process is defined by a sophisticated glass molding technique. Skilled glassblowers gather molten glass and carefully layer both clear and colored elements before introducing them into a precision-engineered mold. It is a complex, multi-step operation requiring exact timing, temperature control, and a trained eye.
Once cooled and finished, the Hurricane Rock stands as both a functional object and a sculptural tribute to nature. It reflects not just light, but the layered process behind its creation—where geological inspiration, human skill, and material transformation come together in a single, luminous form.
